June and July Specials

Hello Everyone. A little story about the dog…..

My husband and I planned a four night backpack in north central Pennsylvania a few weekends ago. The Loyalsock trail is a quietly kept secret that winds through mountain ridges and streams on soft mossy footbeds of Lycoming County. With our backpacks loaded down with food and gear, we headed out with Moose the dog for a little natural respite.

Our first night out was picturesque. A gushing 15 foot waterfall had carved out a perfect S in our small canyon, and left a soft, flat perch that beckoned you to stay the night. So inspiratonal, in fact, that prior backpackers had created an elaborate fire pit made of stone, complete with two rock armchairs and a sizeable table between. Sweet. With our fluffy beast at our feet, we all let out a deep sigh of satisfaction.

The next morning we leisurely got up and out. Following the river upstream, dodging in and around high meadow, we passed a 40 foot rock slide that delivered into a deep swimming hole. Chip didn’t hesitate in the chilly spring water, which is intriguing because cold shower water makes him scream like a little girl… And then we heard a scuffle up the hill, and the dog comes charging back toward us with a face full of porcupine quills. Great.

I managed to pull out two of the long ones. It is not unlike pulling fish hooks out of your face, so needless to say, Moose was very unhappy. We paused for a moment to come to terms with the situation that had so rudely interrupted our hike, and concluded that there was no other alternative but to head back to the car, grab a map, and head for a vet.

Several hours and several hundred dollars later, we had a sedated, quill-free dog who we were told could not even climb stairs for the next 36 hours. We rented a cabin for two more nights and called it a wash. Reaffirmed with the lesson of ‘you never know what’s going to happen.’

And because it is what I do, I reflect on these experiences and try to create a meaningful analogy to life. To well-being. To happiness and refusal to let anything weigh us down. For instance….

Moose is a 13 year old, 100+ lb. rootbeer barrel of a dog, and it has become a little bit challenging to plan trips with him in mind. But I do it anyway because the woods are his Eden, and far be it from me to leave him home.

And were we mad at him? Ummm… not really. You have to kind of chuckle at the fact that he still tries to catch things. You have to go with the flow because believe it or not, the FLOW is way stronger than we are. It’s the path of least resistance type of thing…

So, what if we approached ourselves and our bodies like we might approach our dogs?

Go to those places that fill you with absolute satisfaction. Even if it seems difficult. Even if you feel old or out of shape or too busy. You owe it to your heart to let it sing…

Take care of your body. Don’t wait until you have quills in your face before you come to grips with needing some TLC. Exercise, check ups, massage. Body Maintenence and mind-body connection is almost too simple of an idea to impress. But I will always try…

June is the Month of folks in uniform. Firefighters, police officers, mail carriers. Please enjoy $10 off your massages in June, and because this is a little bit late, all of July as well.

July is a month where Center Yourself Massage celebrates Teachers and Child care providers. Hopefully you all get a little bit of time to enjoy the summer, and we hope that you come in and get $10 off your massage.

As always, when you buy in bulk, you save money. But more importantly, you make a wonderful self investment that eliminates the whens and the hows of busy living. When you purchase 5 massages, you get one free. Save $70 when you spend $350.

Take great care of your bodies in this heat. Go for an early morning walk or maybe a swim. It’s not about what has brought you to this point, but where you take it from here. And we are always here to help.

Get a massage and your body will thank you. We’ll see you on the table.

Testimonials

Published by jennifer on Tagged News

Hello Everyone!

I was hoping you all could do me the wonderful favor of emailing me a written testimonial to post on my website. As word gets around, and people realize that Center Yourself Massage Therapy is the best place to get a fairly priced, highly effective, extremely enjoyable massage, the more my website is a resource for new clients. A place where someone can visit and make the important decision of who is going to help them take well-being into their own hands. And it is my fantastic clientelle from which I hope to pull this powerful resource….

So, in your own words, the truest account of your experience so far. How massage has helped you. A mention of what exactly makes my office inviting and what makes the bodywork effective. Compare it to other places, or just focus on what you like about your massage here.

I know that when I make the decision to get a massage, there are elements to really think about. How much does it cost? How qualified are the practioners? Will I be cold, too hot, in pain, rushed out, unappreciated? Will I feel empowered and light on my feet, or will I feel like I wasted my money on someone who DOESN’T GET IT?

I am proud to know that everyone has a good experience and plans to return. It’s the biggest compliment I can get.

And as a tasty incentive… If I pick your testimonial for the site, you will recieve a $20 coupon for your next massage or gift certificate purchase. Just include a current address with your testimonial.

What do you think? I’d love to know. Suggestions also welcome for improvements and services you would like to see offered.

Thanks a bunch. See you on the table.

December Specials

Published by jennifer on Tagged News

Hi Everybody!

Do I have to tell you how much people would love to have a massage for the holidays? Should I endlessly rant and rave about the benefits of proper body maintenance and the importance of stress management?

No!

Because it all seems a little cliche at this point to want to wash away aches and pains in the warm and inviting studio of Center Yourself Massage. Because who would want a gift that made them say, “I never knew I could feel this good.”

I know Dad would rather have golf balls in December.

And I’m certain that Mom would be absolutely thrilled with a new holiday oven mitt.

I know I can’t ever have enough banana yellow turtlenecks. Size small.

With all of the tremendous options out there this Holiday season, it almost makes no sense at all to want to give somebody the gift of well-being. The gift of feeling good in their own skin. And it is surely absurd to help someone with chronic back and neck pain, someone who has sciatic nerve pain, carpal tunnel, headaches or overwhelming stress. We all need more crystal kitty figurines to help clutter our homes and our minds.

But for those preposterous and unconventional individuals that continue to bang down my door insisting on Holiday gift certificates, far be it from me to place judgement.

Specials are as follows:

Ear Candling Gift Certificates are $25.00 for a single pair and $40.00 for doubles.

One hour gift certificates are $70.00

Buy Two and receive the third one half off for $175.00 Save $35

Buy Five and get the sixth absolutely free for $350.00 Save $70

Break the usual mold this season with the gift that everyone will love the most. Me. I mean massage. And always know that a gift certificate from Center Yourself is stylish and thoughtful. You don’t even have to wrap it. Wow.

November Specials

Published by jennifer on Tagged News, SPECIALS, holidays, gifts

Welcome November! Welcome crisp autumn days (finally,) and brisk fall nights. Welcome fireplaces and down jackets and wonderful handmade scarves. Welcome to the brink of family holidays, turkey and stuffing. So many fun and exciting things lie in the season ahead.

It’s go-time for those early bird Christmas and Hannakuh shoppers; those confident people who sit back and watch the hordes of unprepared individuals scramble for last minute gifts. Ahh, to be so organized. Maybe in another life….

…Or maybe this year. Maybe this is the year where you actually roll into the holidays with a little trick up your sleeve. The Perfect Gift. Maybe this is the year when you get hailed as winner of best gifts given. Maybe this year, we can help you accomplish this high honor.

The gift of Well-Being. The gift of wholeness. The gift of a soothing massage that makes people feel good in their own skin. A gift that says, “The most important thing in the world to me is that you feel as good as you could ever imagine.” Quite a sentiment.

As always, our gift certificates will be very festive, wrapped in ribbon as if they were picked directly from the thoughtful tree.

We have a few specials that will hopefully provide an avenue for you to find exactly what you’re looking for. Take a peek:

*All single holiday gift certificates are $10 off in November $ 60.00
*If you buy two one hour sessions, please enjoy the third
at half off $175.00 Save $35
*Holiday 6 pack. Six thirty minute massage on sale $220.00 Save $20
*Holiday 5 pack. Five sixty minute massages on sale $320.00 Save $30

Please take advantage of these wonderful specials. For someone you care about. For a friend or co-worker. To schmooze a boss or entice a love interest. Massages are the most appropriate and appreciated gift for anyone with a body.

As always, November Specials focus on the month at hand, and all of you that think you need a little de-stressing before the hoildays hit.

Tracy is offering 10% off all reflexology appointments. This is an excellent way to receive full body benefits by just working on hands and feet. Your hair stays immaculate, you look as polished as you did when you came in, and off to the shops you go….

We’d like to extend a special discount to those hard working souls in the food and beverage industry. These are the kind and patient folks that fetch you whatever you need, wait on you hand and foot, and then clean up all the cheerios from your two year old’s dinner. Tell someone you know that works in a restaurant to reap the benefits of $10 off a sixty minute massage.

We’ll be in touch. Stay warm and live healthy, happy, self-fulfilled lives. See you on the table.

It’s been so long!

Published by jennifer on Tagged News

pumpkin.jpgHi everyone! You must have thought that I have forgotten about you! Not true. Everything has been so hectic that I haven’t had a moment to stop and think.

I got married on September 22nd, and as you might imagine, it is a cyclone of places to go and people to see. Chip and are are settling back down into a steady routine which no longer includes DJs named Gizzmo (he’s the best) and struggling to decipher what exactly pea soup green actually looks like.

But I am back, and dedicated to my family of loyal and wonderful clientele.
A few new things have crept their way into my repertoire of tricks. I have become certified in Myofascial Release, an amazing massage modality that focuses on ‘releasing’ the body’s soft tissues as a way to restore proper body mechanics, ease chronic pain patterns, and rehabilitate from past injury. Please do a little research to fully understand who are the best candidates, and what exactly is involved. Just Google Myofascial Release.

I would also like to remind you that October celebrates men and women in uniform, and their families. Of everyone in the world, these are the people could use a little stress reduction. Please enjoy ten dollars off every massage in October.

I’d also like to provide you with a ‘Buy Two, Get One Half Off’ gift certificate special. For you, for friends, for family. Don’t yell at me for mentioning it, but it could be a great holiday gift that you can get out of the way…… 3 Massages for $175. Save $35.

I hope all is well with everyone. Get out there and carve pumpkins, go to a corn maze. Sip warm apple cider or and jump in a pile of leaves. These are the days to make memories. Don’t get stuck in a boring routine. For those of you that like to keep tabs on Moose, he’s doing great. Every year a little whiter in the beard, but gleamy in the eye. Gotta love ‘em.

Call anytime. We are here to make your existence a little brighter. Until then, breathe deep, live well. Do something extraordinary for yourself.

July and August Specials

Published by jennifer on Tagged SPECIALS

Hi everyone. it has been an unusually busy time, i apologize for not having updated the site or the specials. my soon husband to-be and i just bought a house, and we’re getting married in September. where, oh where is the 36 hour day?

sunflowerIf anyone is pining for a Moose update, you’ll get a chuckle knowing he got sprayed by a skunk the second night in our new home. We smelled it as we drove around the corner. we were certain as we opened the door to see a guilty looking face.

I couldn’t wash him that night or the next day because I had massage appointments. If it happened to be you that following day, you’re welcome. all is back to normal now, except when it rains or is humid, because the odor never truly dissipates.

Fyi: a lovely and generous groomer lady told me of a secret concoction that blows tomato juice out of the water: i will share.

1/2 box baking soda

1 cup hydrogen peroxide

1/2 cup dawn liquid soap

Mix it up, lather up the bad dog, leave it for 15 minutes, rinse. two times is probably a good idea. when the dog is completely dry, he will be odor free. Smelly when wet for a few months……..

Alright. Well, July is making a move on us. this month’s special is for teachers and childcare providers who will receive $10 off their scheduled appointments.

August’s special is for senior citizens, who will recieve the same $10 discount. I am going to extend the teacher discount through august as well. Sorry for not having told you sooner.

If you are a teacher and a senior citizen, I can’t see why you wouldn’t be deserving of $20 off your massage.

Please pass this on to someone you know who would benefit from a moment of relaxation and body maintenance. It shows you care.

The other special we would like to promote is the ‘One Month Intensive Program.’ If you have a knot the size of your fist, if you have a chronic posture problem, or if you think it would just be a delightful idea, we would like to offer a special $50 massage if you come in once a week for a month. we will also accept every other week. Payment is to be made in full at the first appointment, and the schedule we set up is to be adhered to. If you have to miss a week, you forfeit the massage. this is a fantastic way to conquer the problem that is weighing you down. To give yourself the attention and the schedule to follow through with what you need most. find true relief with a wellness plan that will put your feet firmly on the ground and your head in the hills. you deserve it.

May - June Specials

Published by jennifer on Tagged News, SPECIALS

Let’s take a moment to acknowledge that we have had a fantastic spring season so far! Cool mornings, warm days, and crisp evenings. No humidity, lots of sun, long lasting flowering trees… Just one item on the list of things to be thankful for.

May is also the month for brides and grooms and families of the newly wedded to recieve ten dollars off a massage. This discount is also good for gift certificates to these loving, and overly stressed out individuals.

June is the month to appreciate our public service friends, including but not limited to fire fighters, police officers and mail carriers. If you are one of these dedicated people, or if you know a deserving soul that is, a massage might just be what they need.

Come by our display for Newark Nite on Saturday, June 2nd, when we will be hosting a raffle for a free massage. Just drop your name in the fishbowl. We are also doing on site chair massage, and will have some things for sale.

Thanks for making our studio so successful. It’s our passion, and we do it for you. Take great care this early summer season, and live well.

Look for our ad in Living Well magazine. June’s issue should host a coupon that will make coming in for a massage even sweeter. Could that even be possible?
